Find your way around

Learn where the main areas are, what you can do without an account, and how to change language.

The main areas

The header and, on phones, the bar at the bottom of the screen hold the four main destinations:

  • Home: featured sites, opportunities open for input and the latest updates.
  • Explore: the map and list of properties and development activity. Property pages, comparisons and the showcase sit under this area.
  • Participate: every opportunity currently open for public input.
  • My Richmond: your follows, submissions and notifications, once you have an account.

The More menu holds the broker directory, broker access, tracking a submission, these guides, language and the privacy and accessibility pages. Signed-in City staff and brokers also see a button for their workspace.

What works without an account

Everything public can be read without signing in: the map, property and project pages, site studies, comparisons, published questions and answers, and the showcase.

Many participation opportunities also accept input from guests. When you send something as a guest you get a private tracking link instead of an account. Some opportunities need an account so staff can reply; the form says so before you start writing.

An account is needed to follow records, save searches and receive notifications. See Create and manage an account.

Change language

  1. Open the More menu.
  2. Under Language, choose English or Español.

The page reloads in place, so you stay on the same record, guide or section. The choice is kept on this device.

Spanish covers the shared navigation, sign-in and account forms, participation forms, cards, filters, comparison, showcase, these guides and most of the property workspace. Names, descriptions, comments, documents and other content written by the City or by participants are shown in their original language. Some staff tools, including image management and curation, are English only.
