Find and understand sites
Search the map and find nearby opportunities
Find properties and projects by name, address or location, narrow them with filters, and keep the view for later.
Search the explorer
- Open Explore. On a wide screen the list sits beside the map; on a phone choose List or Map.
- Type in Search by name, address or neighbourhood. The homepage search box opens the explorer with the same text.
- Select a card to highlight it on the map, or a marker to preview its record. Choose View site or View details to open the full page.
Markers for properties and activity differ in shape as well as colour, so you can tell them apart without relying on colour.
Find opportunities near a place
In the activity explorer, enter an address in Enter an address to explore nearby, or allow the browser to use your location. Then choose a Search radius and the Nearest first sort.
Locations are approximate points chosen by City staff. They are not surveyed parcel boundaries.
Filter, sort and use map layers
- Choose Filters. Set Availability, City readiness, Neighbourhood, Intended use, or Public input open.
- Choose Show results. Closing the panel without it keeps your previous filters.
- Remove a single filter from the chips above the results, or Clear all. Reset clears filter fields only, not your search or comparison.
Map layers turn record types on and off. Sorting options include Featured, Recently updated and Nearest.
Filters, search, sort and the selected record are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a view, and Back returns you to it.
Featured sites and collections
The homepage shows up to six Featured sites in the order City staff set, followed by each collection staff have published as its own section. Featuring a site is a City presentation choice. It is not a ranking, an endorsement or a statement that the site is shovel ready.
Return to where you were
Use the browser's Back button or the back arrow in the header on a phone. The explorer reopens with the same search, filters and scroll position. Property pages opened from a comparison show Back to comparison instead.
Save a search
Saving a search needs an account.
- Set up the search and filters you want.
- Open Sort and saved searches and choose Save search.
- Give it a name. It appears under Following in My Richmond, where you can reopen or delete it.
A saved search stores the view. It does not send alerts when new records match.
